Mei finally makes a comeback in Overwatch 2

Mei is a support hero that can place ice blocks around the map and freeze enemies in place. She also has a powerful area-of-effect ice blaster which she can fire at her enemies while they are frozen. Mei's ultimate ability allows her to heal herself and nearby allies, as well as increase their movement speed by 20% for several seconds. Mei's primary attack is a short-range pulse that freezes enemies in place for several seconds before dealing damage. Mei's secondary attack is a long-range beam which fires waves of ice that do not stop until they hit an enemy or expire after a few seconds.

Mei returns to Overwatch 2 next week with Hero Balance update nerfing D.Va, Genji, and more. Mei is a defensive hero that stands in front of her allies and protects them with a powerful Blizzard. She's been one of the strongest characters in the game since launch, but her kit has been changed significantly in the latest patch. The most significant change is that she now only has one "shield" ability instead of three. Her other abilities have also been adjusted to be less effective at protecting her allies and more effective at damaging opponents.

Mei's ultimate ability was also changed to freeze enemies for longer than it did before (up from 2 seconds down from 4). This should make it much easier for Mei players to stop aggressive pushes or save teammates from dangerous situations as they try to escape through choke points.

Mei’s return

Mei is returning to Overwatch 2 next week with a Hero Balance update that nerfs D.Va, Genji, and more. The update will hit the game on May 4th at 1 p.m. EDT / 9 a.m PDT / 5 p.m CEST / 22:00 BST / 23:00 CET, which is when Mei's Hero Balance update will be available for testing in the Public Test Region. Here's what you can expect from this balance update:

Mei will lose her long-range Ice Wall ability (which allows her to create walls in front of her) and instead gain a new ability called Ice Wall that has similar functions to the old one but with a shorter range and cooldown time of 30 seconds instead of 60 seconds between uses.

Mei's Endothermic Blaster ability now requires her to be surrounded by ice in order to fire projectiles from it, which reduces its range from 700 meters to 500 meters and its damage from 450 to 300 per shot but does not change its damage falloff pattern so it can still deal damage beyond 500 meters away from Mei as well as reduce movement speed by 70% for all allies within 500 units of it when it fires every few seconds (reduced from 150% movement speed).

Mei is coming back to Overwatch 2 next week with a Hero Balance update. The latest patch will nerf D.Va, Genji, and others as well as introduce new skins for the robot-riding support class. Mei is one of the most popular characters in Overwatch 2 and has been since it launched last year. This hero's popularity is likely due to her ability to protect allies from harm while dealing damage herself. Mei also has access to a freeze gun that can freeze enemies in place, which can help your team secure map objectives or fight back against opponents who are trying to take them away.

As part of today's patch update, Blizzard also made some minor changes to Mei's movement speed and damage capabilities. The developer says these changes will make it easier for players who aren't used to playing Mei to understand how she works but don't expect any major gameplay changes from this patch update. Mei returns to Overwatch 2 next week with Hero Balance update nerfing D.Va, Genji, and more.

Mei has been a staple in OWL since her release, but she’s been getting a lot of nerfs lately. Her Defense Matrix has been removed from her Ultimate, which makes her more vulnerable to attacks while using it. Her Ice Wall is also being nerfed for the same reason—it’s no longer effective during Defense Matrix. Mei can still use this ability to block enemy fire from reaching her team, but it won’t be very effective.

In addition to these changes, Mei will also receive some buffs. She’ll get a slight increase in damage output and health pool upon being hit by an enemy projectile while using her Ultimate ability.
