Guide to complete Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker

The Endwalker is a notorious monster in the world of Final Fantasy XIV. It's described as a "great snake that sleeps in the depths of Mor Dhona" and is said to be far bigger than even the Gyr Abania giant tortoises. In reality, it's actually a giant worm and can be found in abundance near Costa del Sol.

If you're looking to take it down, you'll first have to talk to Hildibrand—a judge who loves to admit he's not a good judge. He'll tell you that he needs help investigating the matter and will assign you a task. You'll have to find out what's going on with this Endwalker business, and he'll let you know once he hears back from his sources or witnesses something himself.

The main story in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is one of the best in the series. It’s a sweeping epic that spans centuries and has dozens of memorable moments. The wealth of lore surrounding it has inspired most players to want to see as much as they can, but the sheer size of the game (and its quests) often makes this a daunting task.

Adventurers who have been playing for years might have seen all of the content there is to see, but many others are still working their way through the main story. It’s not surprising that some players would be interested in seeing everything there is about the game without having to play for hundreds of hours. That’s where Hildibrand comes in.

Hildibrand is an NPC that appears late in Stormblood, during the quest “The Vital Title.” He gives you several quests that send you out into Eorzea to complete various odd jobs, and completing these quests unlocks sidequests that delve into the past misadventures of Hildibrand, who was once an inspector with Ul’dah’s Temple Knights.

How to begin Final Fantasy XIV’s “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures” quest

The “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures” quest in Final Fantasy XIV is structured like a detective story, with the player character investigating a series of crimes that were committed by a mastermind behind the scenes. The first step in this quest involves finding out who this mastermind is and where to find them, so the player can begin to unravel the plot.

The quest itself gives several pieces of information that may seem inconsequential at first, but are actually important. This begins by talking to a friendly NPC who is an employee of the Grand Companies in Ul’dah. The player character asks if they’re familiar with the name Ezmeralda, which was one of the clues from Hildibrand’s previous adventures. There are several possible variations of dialogue for this exchange, all of which provide hints about where to go next.

The next clue is Ezmeralda’s last name: Yeulwulf. This refers to a specific NPC who resides in Old Gridania, and handing her an item will net you another clue: “I believe you seek someone named Ezmeralda Yeulwulf? A man matching your description recently visited this shop looking for her.”

I began playing "Final Fantasy XIV" in the fall of 2014, and I’m still playing to this day. One of the many reasons I love it is the story. It’s mostly written, with a few cut scenes here and there, but sometimes you get to play through an episode of the complex political intrigue that has kept me hooked—especially after getting access to the main series' delightfully silly villain, Nael Van Darnus.

The central hub city in "Final Fantasy XIV" is the gorgeous city of Ul’dah. There are tons of quests available in Ul’dah, but one-in-particular has a higher difficulty than most (in my opinion). It’s called “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures.” "Hildibrand" is a play on words; it’s a combination of Hildibrand, one of the main quest characters, and “adventure.” The quip was so good that Square Enix made their own spinoff game about him, which you can play for free!

The quest chain, “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures”, begins in the 7th year of the game. With the release of Stormblood, it has been bumped up to be a main scenario that occurs in the middle of the story. For new players starting A Realm Reborn, you will start this quest chain by going to Rhalgr’s Reach in Western La Noscea. Enter the main building and go through the doorway on your left. Once inside you will be greeted by a man named Ser Aymeric who is part of a major questline in A Realm Reborn. He will give you a series of quests until you reach “The Ultimate Weapon”.
