Effect of BGMI ban on Content Creators and Players

It has been a very long time since BGMI has been banned in the country. Earlier the game was banned as PUBG Mobile during September 2020. The developers took a lot of time to develop an Indian alternative for PUBG Mobile and named it as BGMI or Battlegrounds Mobile India. This alternative of the game was launched in the month of July 2021. When it was officially launched, it took no time to reach millions of downloads. And the speed at which it took the growth broke a lot of records in the entire Play Store and App Store history. It was among the fastest growing games of all time.

But the scenes going in the back-end of the game were not that good due to which it had been banned again by the Indian Government after a year of launch. On July 28, 2022, the game has been delisted from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store by the orders of the Indian Government. It has been time since the game has been banned and there is no information regarding the date on which the players could expect it to be back in the country.

This has affected a lot of content creators and players of Battlegrounds Mobile India. This has been the second time where the game has been banned for the same reason. Here we would be having a look at the effects which the game had put forward on the content creators and players since it has been banned. There are many content creators who were only dependent on Battlegrounds Mobile India for their content due to which they have suffered a lot. It would be discussed in detail how the ban has affected them and others.

Effect of the ban

BGMI was officially banned in the country on 28 July. Many content creators who were a part of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Partner program have been left with nothing after the game has been banned. The content creators who grew their YouTube channels and other official handles through the same might see the effect of the ban in some time. But there are some people in the community who are standing together to ensure that the community remains strong even after the ban of the game. Some of the content creators have even advised the fans to shift to some other games.

These Creators include Mortal, Jonathan, and many others. They even have given their own views regarding the scenario which would be taking place after the unban of the game in the country. A few content creators even said that after the ban, the game has lost it's hype due to which it cannot achieve the same level of success in the country again. Many Esports tournaments were announced for the game and even the Esports players of the game are now left with nothing after the ban. They just either have to hope for the game to get unbanned or shift to some other game as soon as possible.

Players who wanted to purchase UC are unable to do the same as the purchases have been blocked by the Google Play Store. It is still not sure whether the next update of the game would be available to us or not. We all know that the only way to purchase UC in BGMI was through the Play Store and App Store. Due to this reason, the players who used to recharge game currency to their accounts are now left with no option other than waiting for the game to get unbanned.

This is what Mortal said in one of his tweets just after the ban of Battlegrounds Mobile India was made official -

Really comes as a shocker because the Growth of Esports in India has been tremendous.

All will come down to a stop if something happens to BGMI(Top esports game in India)

Trust will be broken.

People who HOPED, will remain hopeless.

I hope you look into the matter.

He even tagged the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India so that they would be able to look into the matter and the game would be unbanned as soon as possible.
