Today, TEC announced Rise of Legion: Apex Legends, a new esport league that will host 30 APAC teams in its inaugural season. Reignite, winners of the recent ALGS Championship, are among the eight Chinese teams invited to compete in the region. This is great news for fans of Chinese Overwatch, as it means some of China's top talent will be competing in a major project after the recent Overwatch League left them out. Despite being one of the fastest growing regions for esports, China has struggled to gain a foothold in these kinds of global leagues—with a few exceptions like Dota 2's The International and Epic Games' Fortnite World Cup.

TEC has announced plans to host a tournament in the form of an Apex Legends competition, titled Rise of Legion, with a 30-team APAC lineup including Reignite and ALGS. The competition will begin April 14 and end May 5, with matches being held every Wednesday at 8PM SGT (GMT +8).

The schedule has been shortened from the usual three month window to account for ongoing tournaments as well as the fact that most teams are still committed to their other Apex Legends commitments. The tournament will be broadcast on TEC's Twitch channel.

The prize pool is currently undisclosed but will be revealed on April 4. This competiton is currently slated to be held exclusively in the APAC region. However, TEC representatives have noted that they are open to the possibility of an NA or EU equivalent if there is sufficient interest from teams within NA or EU regions.

Rise of Legion: Apex Legends will offer a prize pool of $10,000

The TEC Championships have announced that the next season of the league will be named "Rise of Legion: Apex Legends", and is set to host 30 APAC teams. Rise of Legion: Apex Legends will also offer a prize pool of $10,000. The tournament will also be using the Apex Legends Battle Pass, adding a number of exclusive rewards for viewers. Reignite, who won the first season of the TEC Championships, will be amongst the list of participating teams competing in this tournament.
