Games which can be completed in a Day

Some video games that you can play for hours on end require lengthy campaigns, intricate storylines and lots of levels to complete. While some people love these types of games, it's important to remember that there are other approaches to gaming out there. The following list includes five games that you can complete in a day, and two bonus titles that may take a bit longer than 24 hours but should still be completed relatively quickly. While it's true that some video games are so long you may need a calendar to keep track of your progress, others give you a sense of accomplishment in mere hours. They can be satisfyingly short, but they still managed to pack in all the fun and excitement of the longer games.

Five video games that take a day to finish

1) Portal

Portal: The original Portal was released in 2007 by Valve and is still considered one of the best video games ever made. Players navigate the Aperture Science Enrichment Center with a portal gun that can create an entryway between two flat surfaces. The goal is to navigate each level, find the exit, and defeat GLaDOS, the AI that controls the facility. Some puzzle games take weeks or months of playing to complete—Portal can be finished in less than 10 hours if you know what you're doing. In Portal, you're given a gun that shoots two portals: one blue and one orange. The gun works by firing a portal onto any flat surface you're facing, and then creating another portal anywhere you shoot the first.

2) What Remains of Edith Finch

What Remains of Edith Finch is a video game that tasks the player with exploring a house and piecing together the stories of the family who once lived there. Told in first-person perspective, the game begins with one simple task: walk up to the house. Once you do, though, you find yourself trapped in the house and unable to leave. But rather than make an escape your primary goal, What Remains of Edith Finch encourages players to explore every nook and cranny as they unravel the mysteries around them. The game is broken up into sections—all in different parts of the house—and each section ends when all of its members have been discovered or completed.

3) The Stanley Parable

The Stanley Parable is a game that will make you question your own reality. It's an interactive fiction game that tells the story of an office worker who suddenly finds himself in a strange parallel world. For most of the game, the player has little control over what happens to the main character, Stanley; instead, he follows the narrator's orders and explores his surroundings.

This is one of those games where you can't really do much other than experience it for yourself. The only way to really understand its appeal is to play it. Sure, you might think that an 8-hour game seems like a bit much for a day-time activity, but trust me:

4) Undertale

Undertale is an RPG game where you play as a child who falls into an underground world inhabited by monsters. As you play, you’ll make choices that determine whether you kill or spare various enemies. This gives Undertale a unique feel and makes it easy to pick up and play again after taking a break. While the game does have multiple endings, it doesn’t take long to see all of them. You can finish the game in about 6-8 hours if you know what you are doing and are going for the best ending available.

5) P.T.

P.T. (Playable Teaser) – This is the game that broke hearts when it was announced that it was being cancelled by Konami (the company behind Metal Gear Solid). What made this game so special is that even though it was for the cancelled Silent Hills game, you could still play it on its own without having to buy anything else. It's also only about 60 minutes long, if you're quick about it. So clear your schedule and give P.T. a whirl! There was a time when video games were extremely difficult and could take dozens of hours to complete. The game players had to invest in these games would equal hours of playing. But as technology grew, video game developers have been able to create games that can be completed in one day or less.
