Fans around the globe rejoice, CDL is back. The first week of Call of Duty League Resurgence was absolutely stacked with matches, some dominating performances, and a few sloppy outings as well, but in the end, there were some very clear takeaways that are going to be pivotal to this season going forward. Below will be a brief recap of each day followed by the key takeaways you need to know before tuning in this weekend.

1) Semi A started with a bang

The first week of Call of Duty League Resurgence: Semi A has come to a close and the top teams have already started to take form. In the midst of all of this, we've taken note of what's working for the top teams, what's not working for them, and what insight that can give us for how we want to improve our team's practice leading up to the next week. Here are some of our favorite takeaways that we think will help anyone trying to climb their way up in rank or win some money on Sunday:

The importance of communication is key - If you're trying to improve as a team, one thing you can't do without is a voice chat system. It makes it so much easier to communicate with your teammates on a deeper level and allows you to have more meaningful comms during a match. Even if your team isn't using mics, a good third-party app like Mumble can really help your team communicate effectively.

2) Atlanta Faze’s domination in Semi B

The Atlanta FaZe’s had a phenomenal tournament, and there is no doubt that they are the best in the league. It was a great weekend for Call of Duty League fans. The Semi B group was pretty strong with teams like the Florida Mutineers and the London Royal Ravens; nevertheless, the Atlanta FaZe’s dominated them all. Here are the 5 biggest takeaways from the Call of Duty League Resurgence: Atlanta Faze’s domination in Semi B

The Atlanta FaZe's are still the best

There is no doubt that Atlanta FaZe’s are still at the top of their game, and it would be hard to replace them. They were unbeaten throughout the tournament, and they also had a flawless 3-0 record throughout the weekend against all their opponents. Their recent addition of Cellium has worked out well for them, and they seem to be having fun as well on stage.

Atlanta FaZe dominated the second weekend of CDL, Resurgence. They have shown why they are one of the favorites to win CDL 2021. The event was not just about Atlanta. Dallas Empire proved that they would be a tough team to beat in the tournament. While the third semi-finalist, Chicago Huntsmen has shown beautiful moments in the event.

3) The face-off between Goats and Underrated

Goats' lineup was one of the most cohesive and well-planned of all the teams in this league. They had a clear goal from the beginning: to win, and to do it with as little trash talk as possible. The players on their team were also more than up to the task: from their initial match against RED, they showed that they had great chemistry and could perform under pressure when it mattered.

After a strong showing against Underrated in their season opener, Goats seemed to be well on their way to a respectable finish in the Call of Duty League Resurgence: The Face-Off between Goats and Underrated. But they couldn't maintain that momentum, losing to Underrated 0-3 in the second series of the day. The team's captain, Jonny "JT" Theilgaard, spoke with eSportsonly about what led to the team's loss, and he listed five key takeaways from the weekend.

4) Los Angeles Guerrillas took the crown

The Los Angeles Guerrillas were crowned today as the winners of the Call of Duty League Resurgence. The team beat out over 200 other teams to take the crown. They played with a variety of different players and showed a ton of heart in beating out some of the top teams. The LA Guerrillas were able to get revenge on their fellow LA team, Faze Clan, after they lost to them in a very close series during the regular season. With the championship on the line, they were able to take out Faze Clan quickly in a 3-0 sweep. This shows that anyone can win and that it really comes down to who is playing better that day.

5) Scummn was the MVP

Scump is a monster. That's the first takeaway from Call of Duty League Resurgence. He was the MVP in all three of his matches and is a perfect example of how you can be a top player if you are willing to grind. With content creators like him on your team, you will always be able to play at your best in practice. Without that kind of dedication, however, your team will have trouble maintaining the same level of play during matches. One of the biggest takeaways from Resurgence is that Scummn was the MVP. He was a monster in the Rebirth match, and was strong once again today. He also stepped up big in Search and Destroy, which has been an issue for the Fuel so far this season.
