Fans are disappointed to know about the absence of Harry Potter characters in the upcoming "Harry Potter" game, "Hogwarts Legacy." The game is a role-playing simulation game that features a young student attending Hogwarts Academy. Many fans are disappointed to know that Harry and Albus Dumbledore are not going to be included in the game's much-anticipated new installment. Fans are speculating what the reason could be behind the absence of Harry Potter characters in the game.

Some fans think that it is because J.K. Rowling wants to keep everything in the game canon and consistent with her books. Some others think Rowling doesn't have any business interests related to the game and therefore she has no control over it. There is also speculation that J.K. Rowling knows about this already and gave permission for the developers of this game to make sure Harry isn't included in this game, so as not to confuse anyone who hasn't read all of the books yet. Whatever may be the reason, it is clear that fans are disappointed about this news and want some clarification from Rowling herself as well as from Electronic Arts, which is producing this new installment for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 consoles.

When the news broke that Niantic's newest mobile game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, would be moving away from its city-based model with Ingress and instead feature a more character-driven approach, fans rejoiced. Harry Potter is the ultimate in geek culture, and to be able to walk around your city and capture magical creatures (and even learn about the real-world history of the area you live in) was a dream come true for most of us.

However, it seems that as we get closer and closer to the launch date Niantic has been forced to make decisions that will inevitably leave a bad taste in our mouths. Without spoiling too much for those who haven't yet read about the game, here are some reasons why fans are disappointed to know about Harry Potter characters absence from Hogwarts Legacy.

Barring a few, Harry Potter fans will not see familiar faces during their time in Hogwarts Legacy

Harry Potter fans will not see familiar faces during their time in Hogwarts Legacy. It's a great game for those who've never read the Harry Potter books, but for those who have, there are quite a few missing characters. It's understandable that some were left out due to legal reasons, but others will be missed by most. The game does its best to make up for this by using original characters and by giving Harry and his friend's new traits and personalities (for example, Hermione Granger is now a brilliant inventor), but when you're used to seeing certain people as you remember them from the book or movie, it's hard not to feel like they should be there.

Many Harry Potter fans have dreamed of stepping into the world of J.K. Rowling’s creation, but if you’re expecting to see familiar faces in Hogwarts: Legacy, don’t hold your breath. As a mobile game, Hogwarts Legacy is a totally new story set in an alternate universe. Players take on the role of a student at Hogwarts during Harry’s time there. However, players won’t be able to see characters like Harry, Ron or Hermione because they never attended Hogwarts during the time of this game—they were still trying to defeat Voldemort before the events of this story took place. That being said, there are plenty of other characters from the Harry Potter books that you’ll get to interact with. You’ll even get to create your own character and customize them however you want. Here, you can choose your own gender and appearance as well as what house you want to be sorted into—Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin.

The Harry Potter world has plenty of new characters, but don't expect to see familiar faces walking around Hogwarts. Players can build their own houses and fill them with any students they want, but they will not be able to interact with Draco Malfoy or Harry Potter himself. There are exceptions, though. The founder of each house can roughly be equated to the headmaster of Hogwarts, and these characters will contribute to the narrative in some way as the game progresses. They can also be interacted with, including having their appearance and clothing customized by the player.
